Newberry County is a progressive, largely rural area with a sense of history, a feeling of community, and the stability of deeply established roots. While we treasure our past, we welcome the future—and new residents—with open arms and a smile on our faces.

Over the last 10 years, we have experienced a renaissance. The renovation of the historic Newberry Opera House as a regional performance center has stimulated the transformation of downtown Newberry and deeply enriched the cultural life of our county. The presence of Newberry College adds a dimension of enthusiasm and energy to our community that enriches intellectually, socially and on the sports fields. We have also seen a parallel growth in the diversity of our industrial base.

In Newberry, you can enjoy the friendliness and security of a smaller community, while living just 30 minutes to one hour from the urban centers of Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg. Charlotte, NC, is approximately two hours away. Atlanta is three and a half hours away. We also like to brag about our proximity to the mountains and the beaches.
