Your Guide to the Registration Process
The patient registration process can be confusing. Here is a guide to help smooth the process.
Newberry Hospital takes the safety of our patients seriously. Starting Monday, January 13, 2020, Newberry Hospital will take your photograph whenever you receive care at our facility. The photo will be uploaded to your electronic medical record (EMR), allowing all of your providers and hospital personnel to identify you when they are providing care.
This safety measure, along with the requirement of providing a photo identification at all points of registration, will help us ensure your safety and aid in preventing treatment errors, privacy violations, billing errors, insurance fraud and even identity theft.
We appreciate and thank you for choosing Newberry Hospital for your healthcare.
Inpatient Registration
Please check-in at the Inpatient Admissions desk, which is located off the front lobby. You will be directed to a registration booth, where a representative will collect information, such as your name, address, and insurance/payment information. You will be asked to sign various admissions forms.
Please bring the following:
- All active insurance cards
- Living Will/Healthcare Power of Attorney if you have one
- Picture ID such as a current driver’s license or passport
Please leave your valuables at home for safekeeping.
Pre-registering online in advance of your inpatient procedure is convenient.
Outpatient Registration
Depending on the services you are to receive, there are several places to check-in:
- For Lab tests, X-Ray/diagnostic imaging, and stress tests, you should check-in at the Lab/X-Ray Registration desk.
- For MRI, you should check-in at the MRI Department in the Self Professional Center located in the building in front of the hospital on Kinard Street.
- For Surgery, you should check-in at the Fulmer Surgery Center desk located on the left side of the front lobby as you come in the main hospital entrance.
- After you have checked in, you will be directed to a registration booth, where a representative will collect information, such as your name, address, and insurance/payment information. You will be asked to sign registration forms.
Please bring the following:
- All active insurance cards
- Picture ID such as a current driver’s license or passport

Please arrive for services at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time. To reduce your wait time on the day of your appointment, a registration representative may call you before the day of your test to ask you questions necessary to begin the registration process or you may pre-register online.
If your outpatient procedure requires anesthesia, you should consider having a family member or friend drive you to and from the hospital. Anesthesia may impair your ability to drive.
Payment for services is expected at the time of service. Please call 803.405.7136 for more information.
