Todd O'Neil: Newberry County Memorial Hospital is an independent community hospital. This is a 12-bed emergency department and we work closely with the County EMS and with our charge nurses and nursing team to take the best care of you as possible. One of the things that I really like about being at a community hospital is that there's a good chance that either myself or one of our staff members is going to know you even before you come in the door. I think that gives us accountability but it also has that relationship where we know you and we're happy to take care of you.

Frank Dorn: It's such a great experience to be able to have that continuity of care and to provide such good care to patients and it's such an amazing community so it's been a real privilege to work here in Newberry.

Laurel Stacey: All throughout my experience when I first came here was one of personal touch which I think is what Newberry Hospital is about.

Patrick O'Malley: You know working at a small place like this not only do you get to know the physicians that you're working with, the staff, but also administration which is sometimes lacking in a larger facility.

Edwin Leap: I have a real passion for working in small rural hospitals. There's a great need across rural America for physicians who are qualified to be present for crises, for all sorts of emergencies, things like heart attacks, stroke, car wreck, violent attacks, poisonings, infections.

Sean O'Meara: I think this community is really fortunate to have this hospital. Our wait times are short, shorter than any other hospital I've worked in recently. All of our staff in the emergency department are board eligible or board certified in emergency medicine. I think that's also something that's a real big bonus.

Patrick O'Malley: And probably between the six of us we've got close to 100 years of experience working in emergency departments and that along with the physician assistants that we've had both of whom have 15 to 20 years of experience.

Laurel Stacey: The physician assistant works one-on-one with the physician and we are under their supervision to provide excellent emergency medicine care for you as the patient.

Edwin Leap: Whether it's the physician who spent years in training or the tech who's been out of high school a year we all have to work together very closely to provide the best care possible.

Frank Dorn: The nurses, the physicians, the physician assistants, everyone works together and communicates well and everyone wants to help and pitch in and work as a team and I haven't experienced that anywhere else in 20 years of medicine. This is truly a special place and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Edwin Leap: Thank you for trusting us with the care of yourselves and your family members.
